Norris, who started from third position, experienced a complicated start that relegated him to fifth place. However, a bold strategy, which involved one less pit stop than his rivals, allowed him to take the lead and withstand Piastri’s final attack.
Piastri, in an attempt to achieve victory, was on the verge of colliding with Norris on the penultimate lap. Despite the pressure, Norris remained calm and secured his fifth victory of the season, the third in his last four races.
With this victory, Norris reduces the gap in the championship to nine points, with ten races remaining. Max Verstappen, who finished ninth in the race, remains in third position in the standings, 97 points behind the leader.

At the start, an attempt to overtake Piastri at the first corner didn’t go as planned, relegating him to less favorable positions. This allowed George Russell and Fernando Alonso to gain positions.
After overtaking Alonso, Norris was hampered by Russell, which limited his progress. Meanwhile, Piastri and Charles Leclerc, who led the first part of the race, entered the pits to change tires.
This situation propelled Norris into the lead, opening the door to a one-stop strategy. His race engineer, Will Joseph, communicated the strategy to him, to which Norris responded affirmatively.In lap 31, Norris made his only pit stop, subsequently setting the fastest laps of the race. A small error, which led him off the track, generated some instructions from his team.
Leclerc, Piastri, and Russell were forced to stop again. After the adjustments, Norris was leading with a seven-second advantage over Leclerc and five over Piastri.
Piastri managed to overtake Leclerc and began to reduce Norris’s lead. In the final laps, the excitement grew, with Piastri closing in on his teammate. On the penultimate lap, the Australian attempted an overtake, but Norris held firm and secured the victory.
Russell completed the podium, while Leclerc finished in a disappointing fourth position. The next race will be held in the Netherlands on August 31.
