AUSTIN, Texas – Lando Norris has been held accountable by McLaren following the incident with his teammate, Oscar Piastri, at the Singapore Grand Prix. The team has announced that there will be “consequences,” although what those are has not been specified. Norris nearly collided with Piastri, who currently leads him in the championship by 22 points, at the start of the race two weeks ago. The contact occurred after Norris had to dodge Max Verstappen. Despite the incident, Norris maintained his position ahead of Piastri until the end of the race. Piastri expressed his discontent with the maneuver, suggesting on the radio that Norris should concede the position. However, McLaren did not make that decision during the race, although the team’s perspective seems to have changed since then.
The team held me responsible for what happened, which I think is fair. We have made progress in understanding the repercussions to prevent something worse from happening.

Norris stated that the consequences exist, without giving further details. Piastri, for his part, said that this information was exclusive to the team. The rule is not to collide with each other. This was not a crash, it was something much smaller, but we still don’t want to get to that point because it causes these types of situations, and that’s never good. The team and we want to prevent this from happening again. Simply because of the contact between two McLaren cars.
