McLaren Dominates Austrian Grand Prix Practice
Lando Norris, driving a McLaren, led the practice for the Austrian Grand Prix, followed by his teammate, Oscar Piastri, solidifying an impressive one-two for the British team. Max Verstappen of Red Bull placed in third position. Norris, currently second in the overall standings and 22 points behind Piastri after ten races, set a time of 1:04.324 at the Red Bull Ring circuit, beating Piastri by 0.118 seconds. Verstappen, with a difference of 0.210 seconds, suffered a spin in the last corner at the end of the session. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton completed the top five.
Kimi Antonelli, the Italian rookie from Mercedes, finished seventh, followed by Lance Stroll from Aston Martin, Yuki Tsunoda from Red Bull and Gabriel Bortoleto from Sauber, completing the top ten. Norris, who was also the fastest in the second session on Friday, seeks to recover after not scoring points in Canada two weeks ago, where he had an incident with Piastri.“We changed the balance a bit yesterday and that wasn’t so perfect. Today it improved, but the track temperature increased drastically during the session, we went from 33 to 42 degrees, and that makes a big difference”.
