Lance Stroll Involved in Accident in Dutch Grand Prix Practice; Lando Norris Shines
Aston Martin’s driver, Lance Stroll, suffered a spectacular accident during Friday’s practice at the Dutch Grand Prix. Fortunately, Stroll was unharmed in the incident, while Lando Norris demonstrated a dominant performance on the track.
Stroll, who returned to competition after a wrist injury that prevented him from participating in the Spanish Grand Prix, lost control of his single-seater at turn three, impacting the barriers. The car suffered significant damage, but the driver was able to get out on his own.
Max Verstappen, who was behind Stroll at the time of the accident, expressed his concern over the radio, asking about the driver’s health.
Before the incident, Stroll had shown good pace, finishing third in the first practice session, ahead of his teammate Fernando Alonso.
Lando Norris of McLaren set the pace in both Friday sessions, outpacing his competitors. Norris has won three of the last four races, reducing the gap in the championship with his teammate Oscar Piastri to nine points.
Norris finished the day with a 0.089-second advantage over Piastri, who placed third, with Alonso in between them.An encouraging day for Aston Martin, although Lance Stroll suffered a heavy crash in the second practice.
George Russell, from Mercedes, placed in fourth position, although almost four tenths of a second behind the leader.
Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari had a complicated day.
Hamilton, who had expressed his desire to enjoy driving again, suffered a spin in the first session and finished in 15th position. In the second session, he spun again and finished sixth, more than eight tenths of a second behind Norris.
Verstappen also had a difficult day, ending the first session off the track and being almost six tenths of a second behind Norris.
Alex Albon also suffered an accident in the second practice, hitting the wall and going off the track.
