Mekies Remains Humble Amid Red Bull Resurgence
Red Bull’s boss, Laurent Mekies, persists in not taking credit for the notable change in the team’s performance under his direction, something that Max Verstappen considers Mekies to be “too kind” about. Since Mekies took office in July, Red Bull’s performance has taken a spectacular turn. Verstappen achieved a podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix after the summer break, followed by consecutive victories in Monza and Baku, before securing second position at the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday. After Verstappen’s victory in Monza in September, Mekies deflected questions about his impact since taking office. Three races later, his opinion hasn’t changed.“It’s still zero, guys. It’s still zero,” he told reporters on Sunday night when asked if he would reconsider how much credit he can assume now. “And I say that with the same seriousness that I told you after Monza.”

Verstappen added that the team has worked well together, looking for details and understanding their weaknesses. He highlighted that the team is on the way to improving and that the right questions, including Mekies’ participation, are working well.“I think Laurent is probably too nice in that sense,” Verstappen said on Sunday night when Mekies’ comments were mentioned to him.
