McLaren close to the Formula 1 constructors’ title in 2025
The 2025 Formula 1 season is shaping up to be one of the most successful in McLaren’s history. The team is close to securing the Constructors’ Championship, with the possibility of being crowned long before the last race, as happened in the dramatic previous season in Abu Dhabi. After securing their first team title in 26 years in 2024, McLaren is on track to retain the crown in record time, even though several races remain to be run. Although McLaren missed an opportunity in Azerbaijan, they have a great chance to secure the championship at the Singapore Grand Prix on October 5th, the eighteenth race of the season. After the race in Marina Bay, 303 points will be at stake over six rounds. McLaren has a 333-point lead over Mercedes, who surpassed Ferrari in the battle for second place in Baku. Since McLaren already has enough victories to nullify any tiebreaker, a 303-point lead over second place would secure the title for the team. The most Mercedes could get in the next Grand Prix with a 1-2 finish is 43 points, so McLaren needs only 13 points to be victorious. This means that a single podium finish by Oscar Piastri or Lando Norris would be enough.Ferrari is also mathematically in the fight, so McLaren will be crowned champion in Singapore if:
- Is not surpassed by Mercedes by 31 points or more
- IS NOT surpassed by Ferrari by 35 points or more
