Leclerc laments Ferrari: “We don’t fight for victories” after Singapore GP

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expressed his disappointment after the Singapore Grand Prix, calling the team’s situation “not a pleasant feeling.” Leclerc, who finished in sixth position, admitted that expectations regarding Ferrari’s performance have diminished, especially when seeing their rivals compete for victories. While Ferrari has yet to achieve a victory in 2026, McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes have celebrated wins, with Mercedes securing their second victory of the year in Singapore thanks to George Russell. Leclerc and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, struggled with brake problems, which hindered their performance in the race.

From lap eight, it was basically all about managing those brakes. It made our race very, very complicated.

Leclerc offered a sincere assessment of Ferrari’s current position in the competition.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the race car to fight with those at the front. McLaren always had the same gap to us compared to the beginning of the year. Red Bull took a step from Monza and the same level of McLaren.

The driver continued explaining the team’s current situation, highlighting that Mercedes has reached the level of McLaren and Red Bull, while Ferrari is in a less favorable position. Leclerc admitted that the situation is not easy, as the team seeks higher positions, but for the moment, he feels they are “passengers” of the car and cannot extract much more than what is available for the rest of the season. Compared to the previous year, where Ferrari competed with McLaren until the last race, the current situation is a reminder of how the team has slowed down. Leclerc, when asked about his season, stated that, although he wouldn’t describe it as the most difficult, every time they don’t fight for victories is complicated. He acknowledged that after a year competing for the world championship, expectations must be adjusted. The pilot concluded that, although managing disappointment requires a lot of energy, this does not discourage him, but rather drives him to try to change the situation.

It’s very tough, especially after a race like today’s, where you’re not even fighting for a podium, you have to manage a lot of problems. It’s just not a nice feeling.
