Leclerc Expresses Frustration with Ferrari’s Performance in Singapore
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expressed his disappointment after the Singapore Grand Prix, describing the team’s current situation as “not a pleasant feeling.” Leclerc has had to adjust his expectations due to the lack of competitiveness of the car, while watching his rivals fight for victories. Ferrari has yet to achieve any victories in the 2026 season, while McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes have each secured at least two wins, and all have celebrated triumphs since the summer break. George Russell of Mercedes secured the second victory of the year for his team at the Singapore Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Leclerc and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, fought to achieve sixth and eighth positions respectively, due to brake problems.A video of Leclerc having to lift off the throttle and enter energy-saving mode, while being overtaken by Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, went viral after the race. From the eighth lap, it was basically about managing those brakes. It made our race very, very complicated.

The driver added that McLaren has always maintained the same distance from them compared to the beginning of the year. Red Bull has taken a step forward since Monza, matching McLaren’s level. Mercedes is now at the same level as McLaren and Red Bull, and then there’s us. It’s not easy, obviously, because you want to fight for better positions. But, for the moment, it seems we are like passengers in the car and can’t get much more out of what’s there to save for the rest of the season. Last year, Ferrari showed strength and competed with McLaren in the constructors’ championship. Ferrari took that battle to the last race of the year, where Lando Norris’ victory was enough for McLaren to take the title. But Ferrari has not matched McLaren’s pace this season. Leclerc tried to show a positive attitude when asked about his season in general.Unfortunately, we don’t have the car to fight with those ahead.

Leclerc went on to say that expectations must be lowered from the start, and there is not even any progression seen throughout the year. It is not easy. When asked if it’s difficult to manage the feeling of frustration from a year like 2025, he replied: “Yes, I mean it requires a lot of energy, but that doesn’t demotivate me… it motivates me, if anything, much more to try to change the situation. But it is, I mean, it’s very hard, especially after a race like today’s, in which you’re not even fighting for a podium, you have to manage a lot of problems. It’s simply not a pleasant feeling.”I wouldn’t describe it as the most difficult season. I think every time you’re not fighting for wins, it’s difficult, but obviously, coming from a year like the past one, where you’re fighting for the World Championship, the World Constructors’ Championship, and then you come here with high expectations.
