Lando Norris reveals his desire to be perceived as a “good person” amidst the tension of the Formula 1 world championship fight.
The British driver, who has maintained an intense competition with his teammate at McLaren, Oscar Piastri, throughout the season, has managed to maintain a cordial relationship, something uncommon in Formula 1.
Norris was booed by a small part of the fans on the Monza podium, after Piastri was ordered to let him pass after a slow pit stop.
“It’s not the most pleasant thing, but it didn’t bother me too much,” Norris commented on the boos. “Normally, the Italian fans have always been very good to me.”
Lando NorrisFaced with the question of whether he would like to have a “bad boy” image and if he cares about being liked, Norris responded with a smile.
“It’s not a bad boy image, I didn’t do anything, it wasn’t even my decision! I certainly don’t like not being appreciated. I want to give the impression of being a good person and a nice guy. You’re never going to be loved by everyone, so I think I’ve accepted that fact more… I always want to give a good impression, that’s something that matters to me”.

Lando Norris dijo que le importa dar una buena impresión de sí mismo.Formula 1 has witnessed numerous clashes between teammates competing for the title, such as the cases of Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, or Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
“I think you need a combination of drivers who understand and agree, and you also need a well-managed team,” Norris added on how McLaren has broken that trend.
Lando Norris“I’m sure there are more selfish pilots who wouldn’t agree, which is completely valid for them.”
Norris is 31 points behind Piastri in the championship standings, ahead of Sunday’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The 25-year-old driver took advantage of the time between races to participate alongside Ryder Cup star Matt Fitzpatrick in the pro-am event of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
Norris enjoyed the opportunity to immerse himself in a different sporting environment and had fun dealing with some spectators.
“It was a lot of fun. I think I played well for myself, considering I don’t know the course that well,” he said. “I was a little nervous, I didn’t have much time to warm up, I had like five minutes and I couldn’t hit my driver off the tee.

“I wanted to hit the driver off the tee because that’s what people are really going to see! Lots of spectators, all day always bothering! … Actually, I thought it was funny that people would talk to you from time to time.
“When I went to the practice field and you have all the professionals hitting, it’s the same as I’m sure if an athlete comes to F1, it’s admiration for something like that.
“Not many people get to really experience the level of an F1 car. In golf, I think the good thing is that I can have the same clubs as this person, they’re just much better, that’s why golf is great.”
