Hamilton Praises Ferrari’s Reliable Start to Pre-Season

Lewis Hamilton has expressed his satisfaction with Ferrari’s initial performance in the Formula 1 pre-season tests, highlighting the Italian team’s reliability compared to the previous year. The seven-time world champion, who had his first dry session at the Barcelona circuit during the fourth day of private testing, praised Ferrari’s ability to accumulate kilometers without problems. Hamilton and his teammate, Charles Leclerc, completed a combined total of 172 laps, demonstrating the endurance of the new single-seater.

“When you get to testing, you always want to accumulate a lot of kilometers, like today, I did 85 laps in the morning, which is incredible”, commented Hamilton. “And that’s really due to all the people in the factory who have done a great job to ensure that the car, so far, is really reliable. Last year we had a worse start in testing”.

Hamilton added that the beginning of this year is better than what was experienced in the past, considering the new regulations, and he was optimistic about the continuous progress.

Although Ferrari has shown promising pace, Mercedes seems to be the team to beat at this stage of the pre-season.

George Russell of Mercedes set the fastest lap on Thursday, with a time of 1:16.445, beating Kimi Antonelli’s best morning time by 0.636 seconds and Leclerc’s time by 1.778 seconds, who finished third overall.
