Hamilton reiterates his love for Ferrari after a complicated weekend

Lewis Hamilton, after a difficult weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix, has reaffirmed his love for Ferrari, despite suggesting that the team might consider changes in their drivers due to their poor performance. After a disappointing qualifying session, Hamilton expressed his frustration, calling himself “useless”.

The team has no problems. You can see that the car is on pole. They probably need to change drivers.

The race on Sunday did not bring significant improvements for Hamilton, who started and finished in 12th position. Meanwhile, his teammate, Charles Leclerc, went from pole position, the first of the season for the team, to fourth position. Hamilton, who joined Ferrari with great anticipation this year, seemed dejected in the paddock after the race in Budapest. When asked about his comments from the previous day and how he felt, the seven-time champion replied that he still loves to run and still loves the team. Faced with the question of whether he was looking forward to the summer break and if he would be back at the next race in Zandvoort on August 31, Hamilton stated that he hopes to return and that, hopefully, he will be back.

This weekend has been alarming for Hamilton, who has won eight times at the Hungaroring. Apart from a victory in the sprint race in China at the beginning of the season, his results have been disappointing and he has not yet reached the podium in a Grand Prix.

Hamilton largely kept to himself in the drivers’ parade, which takes place before each race, and was then joined by Italian rookie Kimi Antonelli.

At the end of the first lap, he fell behind Carlos Sainz and Antonelli, placing himself in 14th position. At the end of the eighth lap, he was 20 seconds behind Leclerc, who was leading in the other Ferrari, and at the end of lap 14, he was half a minute behind his teammate.

When he left the pits on lap 43 for his only tire change, Hamilton was a lap behind the leaders. He managed to overtake Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and then Sainz to cross the line in 12th place. The Briton is 42 points behind Leclerc, has been outperformed by his teammate in 10 of the 14 rounds and has only beaten him in two races (Imola and Silverstone), and is still waiting for his first podium with Ferrari.
