ZANDVOORT, Netherlands – Isack Hadjar called his qualifying lap at the Dutch Grand Prix the best of his career, after securing fourth position on the starting grid for Sunday’s race at Zandvoort. The Racing Bulls driver has had a standout debut season to date, achieving his best qualifying result with an impressive lap on the 2.65-mile circuit. Hadjar was only 0.283 seconds off the pace of Max Verstappen, of Red Bull, who took third place, and beat his Racing Bulls teammate, Liam Lawson, by 0.292 seconds, who secured eighth place on the grid.

I am very happy, you know. I am finally quite satisfied with what I did. So yes, it was a good job for me.

The driver added that he felt very good with the car, especially on the last lap.

To be honest, the car was exactly how I wanted it. It was responding very well, especially on that last lap.

Hadjar also commented on the luck with the wind gusts and highlighted how special his comeback was.

We were probably a bit lucky with the wind gusts, you know? We need to look at the data. But yes, I did an incredible lap and I held on because the car was great.

Hadjar added that this achievement is even more rewarding as it is on a notoriously difficult circuit for a single lap.

Without a doubt, it’s the best lap I’ve had this year because it’s a very difficult, really demanding track. And I gave it my all, especially on that last corner. I thought I did pretty well there to gain another tenth. And yes, that was special.

When asked if he had any strategy to start alongside Verstappen on Sunday’s grid, Hadjar replied:

I mean, he’s starting on the clean side of the grid. He usually has very good starts. So I actually expect him to probably overtake a car, if anything.
