Isack Hadjar: “The best lap of my career” at the Dutch Grand Prix

ZANDVOORT, Netherlands – Isack Hadjar described his qualifying lap at the Dutch Grand Prix as the best of his career, after securing fourth place on the starting grid for Sunday’s race at Zandvoort. The Racing Bulls driver has enjoyed a standout rookie season to date, securing his best qualifying result with an impressive lap on the 2.65-mile circuit. Hadjar was only 0.283 seconds off the pace of Max Verstappen’s Red Bull, which finished third, and beat his Racing Bulls teammate Liam Lawson by 0.292 seconds, who secured eighth place on the grid.

I am very happy, you know. I am finally quite satisfied with what I did. So yes, it was a good job for me.

“To be honest, the car was exactly as I wanted. It was responding very well, especially on that last lap,” affirmed Hadjar. “We were probably a bit lucky with the wind gusts, you know? We need to look at the data. But yes, I did an incredible lap and it worked because the car was great.”

Hadjar commented that the performance was even more rewarding, as it occurred on a circuit that is notoriously difficult on a single lap. “Surely it’s the best lap I’ve had this year because it’s a very difficult, really demanding track,” added Hadjar. “And I gave it my all, especially on that last corner.” “I thought I did quite well there to gain one more tenth. And yes, that was special.”

When asked if he had a strategy to start alongside Verstappen on the grid on Sunday, Hadjar replied: “I mean, he is starting on the clean side of the grid. He generally has great starts.”

“So, I actually hope that I probably overtake a car, if anything happens.”
