Haas F1: Godzilla takes over the Japanese Grand Prix with striking livery
Haas has presented its design for the Japanese Grand Prix, with a theme inspired by Godzilla. The American team will feature the famous monster on the engine covers at Suzuka, as part of an agreement with TOHO CO. Ltd, the studio that owns the Godzilla franchise. The design includes the phrase “Godzilla takes over the world’s fastest stage” under the drawing of the dinosaur. Haas officially revealed the design at an event in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya on Tuesday. The race in Japan has become a kind of secondary home race for Haas, given its technical association with Toyota Gazoo Racing, whose GR logo also stands out on the car. Haas will carry out another activation in the United States at the end of this year, at the United States Grand Prix in Austin in October. Since its cinematic debut in 1954, thirty-eight Godzilla films have been released. The United States Grand Prix will coincide with the release of the latest film, Godzilla Minus One, in US cinemas.

In most stories, Godzilla is a giant amphibious reptile awakened from the depths of Tokyo Bay by nuclear radiation. Although the monster traditionally represents a source of destruction, it has also been portrayed as an antihero who defends humanity.

More than 75 years after its cinematic debut, Godzilla remains popular in Japan and boasts a wide range of merchandise. A large, roaring model of Godzilla, built on the side of a hotel in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo, is among the most iconic tourist attractions in the capital. F1 teams have collaborated with franchises in the past to promote the release of new movies, including Red Bull with Star Wars in 2005 and Alpine with Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024.
