Hamilton and Gasly: Ferrari’s Situation Sparks Comments

DOHA, Qatar – Lewis Hamilton revealed that Pierre Gasly, Alpine driver, approached him after the sprint race in Qatar to express his surprise at Ferrari’s poor performance. The Qatar Grand Prix started in a complicated way for Ferrari, with Charles Leclerc in 13th position and Hamilton in 17th during the shortened event.

I don’t know how, but we’ve made the car worse.

Hamilton, who had qualified in 18th position, only overtook Gasly and his teammate Franco Colapinto. Gasly, after closely following the Ferrari for much of the race, was surprised by what he observed of the red car.

Pierre approached me afterwards and said: ‘Wow, you look terrible!’

Alpine is in the last position of this year’s championship, with only 22 points accumulated throughout the season. Ferrari is heading towards another season without victories in grand prix, the third in this decade. A video of Leclerc’s tricky race start, where he is seen struggling to keep the car on the track, quickly circulated on social media after the race. Leclerc, like his teammate, expressed his feelings about the car’s performance. When asked if the situation had worsened after the sprint qualifying, Leclerc replied: “Definitely. I have no idea how it happened from qualifying to today.” When asked about the areas the car needed to improve for Sunday’s Qatar Grand Prix, Hamilton’s response was concise: “I’d be here all day.” Hamilton joined the team with high expectations at the beginning of the year, but the enthusiasm quickly faded, with Ferrari losing pace to McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes.
