Leclerc: “It’s not a pleasant feeling” after the Singapore Grand Prix

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expressed his disappointment after the Singapore Grand Prix, calling the experience “not a pleasant feeling” due to unfulfilled expectations and difficulties with the car’s performance. Ferrari has yet to achieve a victory in the 2026 season, while their rivals McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes have secured multiple wins, including triumphs after the summer break. George Russell of Mercedes secured the second victory of the year for his team in Singapore, while Leclerc and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, struggled, finishing in sixth and eighth place respectively, due to brake issues.

From lap eight, it was basically about managing those brakes. It made our race very, very complicated.

A video of Leclerc managing the brakes and being overtaken by the Mercedes driver, Kimi Antonelli, went viral after the race.
Leclerc offered a sincere assessment of Ferrari’s situation in the competition.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the race car to fight with those in front. McLaren has always had the same gap to us compared to the beginning of the year. Red Bull took a step forward from Monza and the same level as McLaren.

The driver continued to express his frustration at the lack of progress and the feeling of being “passengers” in the car. Last season, Ferrari competed with McLaren for the constructors’ championship, going down to the last race. However, Ferrari has not matched McLaren’s pace this season. Leclerc commented on the difficulty of managing a season like 2025.

I wouldn’t describe it as the most difficult season. I think every time you’re not fighting for wins, it’s difficult, but obviously, coming from a year like the last one, where you’re fighting for the World Championship, the Constructors’ Championship, and then you come here with high expectations.

Charles Leclerc
Leclerc stated that the current situation, especially after a race like Singapore, is “very tough”.
