Adam Baker will be replaced by Christian Foyer.

Audi’s Formula 1 project is undergoing significant changes. Adam Baker, the CEO, will leave his position by mutual agreement, being replaced by Christian Foyer.

Foyer assumes the role of Chief Operating Officer on the board of directors of Audi Formula Racing, the entity in charge of the hybrid powertrain. Baker’s position has been eliminated.

Mattia Binotto, former Ferrari boss, leads the overall project, while Jonathan Wheatley, who joined Sauber in April from Red Bull, directs race operations as team director.

Sauber, currently in last position in the constructors’ standings after six races, will become the official Audi team next season, coinciding with the start of a new engine era in the sport.

Audi engines are being built in Bavaria, but Sauber/Audi are also establishing an engineering base in Great Britain.

We would like to thank Adam Baker for his commitment over the past few years. He played a decisive role in shaping the overall strategic concept for Audi’s entry into Formula 1 and initiated the development of the power unit in Neuburg. With Christian Foyer, we are now bringing a proven expert in process structures in the development of F1 powertrains into the project.

Gernot Doellner, Chairman of the Volkswagen-owned brand

Foyer’s experience, according to Doellner, will ensure synergistic cooperation and the necessary speed on the road to the debut.

Baker, with experience in the BMW Sauber team, leaves the project.
