F1: Verstappen vs Norris vs Piastri, battle for the title in the final races

4 Min Read

The excitement of Formula 1 reaches its peak! With three races remaining, the 2025 season of the World Drivers’ Championship is red hot and glory is at stake. After 21 exciting rounds, the championship is heading towards an electrifying finish. The battle for the 2025 drivers’ title is more open than ever. Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen are the main contenders who will face each other in the last three decisive races.

Who will be victorious?

We analyze the current situation and the key factors that could define the championship.

How are the positions?

After a perfect weekend in São Paulo, Norris leads with a 24-point advantage over his McLaren teammate, Piastri. Verstappen, the current Red Bull world champion, is 25 points behind. George Russell from Mercedes is in fourth place, but his chances of winning the title are minimal.

Who arrives in better shape?

Currently, Norris is the strongest driver. After some difficulties, he has achieved the pole position and victory in consecutive races, including a Sprint victory in Interlagos. On the other hand, Piastri has had a less consistent performance. Although he won the Dutch Grand Prix, he hasn’t been on the podium in the last four races. This situation has propelled Norris to the forefront in the fight for the championship.

When could the championship be defined?

In the three remaining races and the Sprint, a driver can obtain a maximum of 83 points. Norris could not secure the championship in Las Vegas, as he could only extend his lead to 49 points. The championship could be decided in Qatar, where a driver would need an advantage of at least 26 points over second place. Norris could triumph with four second places in the races and the Sprint, while Piastri and Verstappen need the Briton to have problems.

What else is at stake in the final races?

In addition to the fight for the drivers’ title, the battle for second place in the constructors’ championship between Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari is crucial. The second place is important for prize money and momentum. However, a team could benefit from a lower position, as it allows more time in the wind tunnel for the development of next season’s car. After a good weekend in São Paulo, Mercedes is in second place with 398 points, with Red Bull 30 points behind. Ferrari, after a disastrous double retirement, is fourth with 362 points.
