F1 secures the Monaco GP until 2035: The iconic circuit stays!
The Monaco Grand Prix extends its legacy in Formula 1 until 2035, as confirmed by the organization this Friday. The Monaco street circuit, which winds around the harbor of Monte Carlo, is recognized as one of the most iconic settings in F1. After a period of uncertainty, the race secured its continuation until 2031 in November, and now F1 has agreed to an additional four years. The Principality’s agreement is positioned as one of the most extensive on the current calendar, surpassed only by Madrid (2035), Bahrain (2036), Australia (2037), and Miami and Austria (both 2041). This year, the Monaco race implemented a new rule of two mandatory pit stops, seeking to energize the spectacle, although the measure was criticized by drivers and fans. F1 and Monaco organizers face pressure to modify the circuit and facilitate overtaking, as current cars and the narrow streets of Monte Carlo often result in races with few maneuvers. It remains to be seen whether changes will be made to the layout. Friday’s announcement did not include commitments to modify the existing design.

“The streets of Monaco have echoed with the sound of Formula 1 since the beginning of this sport. I am pleased to announce the extension of this fantastic event until 2035,” declared Stefano Domenicali, head of F1.

“It’s an iconic race, loved by all drivers and fans, with a unique atmosphere thanks to its location in the most glamorous Principality in the world,” he added.
