Formula 1 Teams Extend Their Support for F1 Academy

The ten Formula 1 teams have formalized their commitment to the all-female F1 Academy series by signing a new multi-year agreement. This agreement ensures the continued support for the drivers and the presence of team designs on the cars beyond the current season.

The agreement consolidates the model implemented in 2024, where each F1 team supports a designated Academy driver and adopts their colors on the vehicle. This collaboration will extend for several more years and will be expanded with the incorporation of Cadillac, which will join the Formula 1 grid in 2026 and the F1 Academy program from 2027.

The F1 Academy also announced an update to its participation rules. Starting in 2027, drivers who have competed in two seasons may receive an exemption to participate in a third year, as part of a “personalized approach to nurturing talent.” This provision will only apply to drivers who demonstrate a clear potential for continued growth.

The long-term commitment of support from the current ten Formula 1 teams, and the incorporation of Cadillac starting in 2027, sends a strong message about the future of the F1 Academy.

Following its inaugural season as an independent series, the championship joined the Formula 1 support program in 2024, competing alongside the grand prix events worldwide. The 2025 season will culminate with a title definition in Las Vegas (November 20-22), with Doriane Pin, backed by Mercedes, leading Maya Weug, supported by Ferrari, by nine points before the final round. The current 2024 champion, Abbi Pulling, backed by Alpine, moved up to the GB3 Championship this year, demonstrating the Academy’s growing success as a launchpad for female drivers.
