Formula 1 Teams Reinforce Commitment to F1 Academy
The ten Formula 1 teams have formalized their commitment to the F1 Academy series, which is exclusively for women. A new multi-year agreement has been signed that ensures their support for the drivers and the use of team designs on the single-seaters beyond the current season. This agreement consolidates the model implemented in 2024, where each F1 team began to support a driver from the Academy, using the team colors on the car. The new agreement guarantees the continuity of this collaboration for several more years. In addition, it will expand with the arrival of Cadillac, which will join the Formula 1 grid in 2026 and the F1 Academy program from 2027.
Upon confirming the renewal on Thursday, F1 Academy also announced an update to its participation regulations. Starting in 2027, drivers who have competed for two seasons may receive an exemption to participate in a third year, as part of what the organizers call a “personalized approach to nurturing talent.” This provision will only apply to drivers who demonstrate clear potential for continued growth. The long-term commitment of support from the current ten Formula 1 teams, and the incorporation of Cadillac from 2027, send a powerful message about the future of the F1 Academy.
