Formula 1 2026 Calendar: Madrid Joins the Party

Formula 1 has officially presented the race calendar for the 2026 season, highlighting the incorporation of a Grand Prix in Madrid. This event will mark a significant milestone in the world of motorsport. The calendar, which consists of 24 races, was approved by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) during a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council. The inclusion of Madrid, initially announced in 2024, is subject to the homologation of the circuit by the FIA. The arrival of this new Grand Prix implies the departure of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, maintaining the self-imposed limit of 24 races.

In addition to the incorporation of Madrid, the Monaco Grand Prix will change its traditional date to the beginning of June, thus avoiding coinciding with the Indianapolis 500. The Canadian Grand Prix also moves to the end of May, allowing the equipment used in the Miami Grand Prix to remain in North America. The 2026 season will begin on March 8 in Australia, with the races distributed over ten months, culminating in Abu Dhabi on December 6. This season will mark the beginning of a new regulatory era, including renewed hybrid engines that will combine battery energy and an internal combustion engine powered by sustainable fuel. Cadillac will also join as the eleventh team, the Sauber team will transform into Audi, and Ford will partner with Red Bull as an engine manufacturer.
