Novak Djokovic Invests in Football: The Tennis Player Joins Le Mans

The tennis star, Novak Djokovic, has ventured into the world of soccer by joining a group of investors who have acquired a stake in the French second division team, Le Mans. The news was confirmed by the club this Friday, marking a milestone in the diversification of the Serbian tennis player’s interests. Alongside Djokovic, the investment includes the participation of former Formula 1 drivers, Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen, thus adding figures from motorsports to the project. The Le Mans club announced that this investment is in addition to other new financial investors, including the Latin American sports investment firm OutField and Georgios Frangulis, founder and CEO of OakBerry. Frangulis is known for being the partner of Aryna Sabalenka, three-time Grand Slam champion in women’s tennis.

“The uniqueness of this fund also lies in its contribution of high-level athletes,” declared Thierry Gomez, president of Le Mans. “Novak Djokovic, Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen will be part of the adventure.”

Djokovic, holder of a record 24 Grand Slam titles in men’s tennis, and with a total of 100 titles in his career, expands his sporting horizon with this investment. Felipe Massa, with 11 victories and 41 podium finishes in his F1 career, came close to winning the title in 2008, finishing as runner-up in a dramatic showdown. Kevin Magnussen, with almost 200 races in F1, achieved a podium and a pole position. The Danish driver was not renewed by Haas at the end of his contract last year. The Le Mans football club, celebrating its 40th anniversary, will begin its league season on August 9th. Le Mans, a city in northwestern France, is also known for being the home of the famous 24-hour endurance race.
