Jak Crawford: Lost Opportunity for Cadillac in F1?
American driver Jak Crawford has expressed his opinion on the possibility of a seat in Cadillac’s new Formula 1 team. According to Crawford, it would be a “missed opportunity” for the team if he were to win the Formula 2 championship this year and not be considered for the team.
Cadillac, which will join F1 as the eleventh team in 2026, has not yet announced its driver lineup.
Crawford, 20 years old, is currently in second position in the Formula 2 series, which serves as a support event on F1 weekends.
Cadillac has previously expressed its desire to have an American driver involved in some way, and Crawford seems to be the most likely candidate.
I think, from my point of view, if I were to win the championship in F2 or finish very high up, I feel like it would almost be a missed opportunity not to have an American driver in the seat.

Cadillac boss Graeme Lowdon has mentioned that the decision on the team’s driver lineup is not a priority at the moment, while the rest of the operation is being brought up to date.
In addition to the obvious candidates, Lowdon has spoken to as many drivers as possible, including Guanyu Zhou, Mick Schumacher and Fred Vesti, Mercedes reserve driver.
Crawford, a former member of the Red Bull junior program and current Aston Martin development driver, has another natural connection to Cadillac beyond his nationality.
The incoming team began its path to Formula 1 as a proposal under the name of Andretti, and is still led by the TWG Motorsports group, which runs the Andretti Formula E team.
Last year, Crawford became a reserve driver for that Andretti Formula E team and has participated in test events in that role.
Cadillac has already announced that its path to the first race of 2026 will be shown in a Disney+ documentary starring Hollywood star Keanu Reeves.
