Oliver Oakes Leaves Alpine F1 Director Role
This week, Oliver Oakes presented his resignation as director of the Alpine Formula 1 team. The news comes a few days after the British police accused his brother of transferring assets obtained illicitly.
The Metropolitan Police reported that William Oakes, 31, was charged last Friday after being arrested the previous day in the Silverstone Park area “in possession of a large amount of cash”.
According to the police, he was remanded in custody after appearing before Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday. His lawyer could not be determined for comment.

Oliver Oakes has resigned as director of the Alpine team.
Oliver Oakes joined Alpine from its junior team, Hitech Grand Prix, where William Oakes also served as a director. Hitech did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.
Oliver Oakes, who is not accused of any crime, had been the director of the Alpine team for less than a year when his resignation was announced on Tuesday.
One day later, the team confirmed that it had changed its driver lineup to promote Franco Colapinto for at least the next five Grand Prix races, to the detriment of Jack Doohan.
Alpine is in ninth place in the F1 constructors’ standings after six rounds. The next race weekend is from May 16 to 18 in Imola.
