The driver Valtteri Bottas has expressed his interest in joining Cadillac in the next Formula 1 season, describing the project as “interesting”. The American team prepares to debut as the eleventh team on the F1 grid, and team principal Graeme Lowdon revealed that at least six drivers are on the list to fill the two available seats. Sources indicate that Sergio Pérez is also being considered to join Cadillac. Bottas, former teammate of Lewis Hamilton and now reserve driver for Mercedes, mentioned on the F1 podcast “Beyond the Grid” that he is not finished in F1 yet and that Cadillac is a viable option.

I don’t think they’re in a hurry.

Bottas also pointed out that the team has been focused on getting the car ready for next season. The Finnish driver hopes to have clarity about his plans for next year in August. Bottas believes that his experience, having competed for three different teams, including one with great success, puts him in a good position.

Bottas sees the Cadillac project as something new and different in F1, with an American perspective that could be very interesting. For Bottas, being part of a team from scratch would allow him to have a great influence on the direction and success of the team, which would be very motivating. Furthermore, Bottas believes that the changes in the regulations are a good time to join, as they could lead to immediate success. Bottas, winner of 10 races in F1 and a key piece in Mercedes’ five consecutive constructors’ titles between 2017 and 2021, was left without a seat this year after leaving Sauber. Bottas says he still feels he’s not done with F1 and has much more to offer. For him, competition is still the most important thing in his life and he misses running.
