The renowned driver Fernando Alonso has expressed his admiration for the performance of Gabriel Bortoleto, from Sauber, calling him “the best rookie of his generation” after his outstanding performance in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Bortoleto, at just 20 years old, achieved an impressive sixth place in Budapest, just behind Alonso, who finished fifth. This result marked the third time in the last four races that Bortoleto scored points.

Bortoleto has had a notable performance, especially after a complicated start to the season. His contribution has been key for Sauber to move up to eighth position in the constructors’ championship, being only one point behind Aston Martin. Bortoleto, speaking about his season, commented:

I was a very novice driver when I started the season, but that’s normal and you progress a lot throughout the season when you start at that level and I feel like I’ve learned a lot.

The driver also praised his team’s work at the Hungarian Grand Prix, highlighting the strategy and the car’s performance.

We did an incredible job [in Hungary], the team gave me an incredible car for today’s race. We managed to put everything in place. The strategy was great. I don’t see how we could finish this half of the season any better.
