Alonso praises Bortoleto: “Best Rookie of his Generation” in F1

The renowned driver Fernando Alonso has expressed his admiration for Gabriel Bortoleto’s performance, calling him the “best rookie of his generation” after his outstanding performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Bortoleto, 20 years old, achieved a sixth place in Budapest, just behind Alonso, who finished in fifth place. This result secured him points for the third time in the last four races.

He makes few mistakes, always pushing. He is the best rookie of this generation.

Alonso highlighted Bortoleto’s performance, mentioning that if the driver were of another nationality and had achieved sixth place with Sauber, his achievement would be on all the front pages. After a complicated start to his debut season in Formula One, Bortoleto has shown solid performance, which has contributed to Sauber’s rise to eighth place in the constructors’ championship, just one point behind Aston Martin.

I was a very novice driver when I started the season, but that’s normal and you progress a lot during the season. I feel like I’ve learned a lot.

Bortoleto added that the team did an incredible job and provided him with a great car for the race. He highlighted the strategy and execution, feeling that they couldn’t have finished the first half of the season better. Formula One now enters its summer break, and the Dutch Grand Prix will be the next race, scheduled for August 31st.
