India Defines its Lineup for the Adelaide Test

Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, and Prithvi Shaw have been selected to represent India in the upcoming Adelaide Test. Umesh Yadav completes the lineup as the third bowler. The main questions for India before the Test included Shaw’s continuity, the inclusion of a spin bowler, and the choice of wicketkeeper. Shaw, despite the competition from Shubman Gill, who showed a better performance in the practice matches, was chosen as the opener. Although his scores in the practice games were low, continuity in the lineup was a key factor in the decision.

The spin-bowling starter, Ashwin, also kept his place, especially given the absence of Ravindra Jadeja due to injury. The decision not to include Ashwin in the past was criticized, and this time experience was chosen. Regarding the wicketkeeper, India opted for Saha instead of Pant. The team management prioritized Saha’s superior skills as a wicketkeeper, especially with the pink ball. Yadav, with previous experience in Australia, was selected as the third bowler, replacing the injured Ishant Sharma.India’s Line-up: Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah.
