Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, and Prithvi Shaw have been selected to represent India in the upcoming Adelaide Test. Umesh Yadav completes the trio of fast bowlers.
Prior to the match, the questions revolved around Shaw’s continuity, the inclusion of a spinner, and the choice of wicketkeeper.
Shaw, despite Shubman Gill’s good performance in the practice games, was kept in the starting eleven. His performance in New Zealand generated debate, although the management opted for continuity at the top of the order.Similarly, Ashwin, the starting spinner, retained his place, especially in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja due to injury. The decision not to include Ashwin in an opening match goes back to the Australia tour in 2014-15.
Regarding the wicketkeeper, India opted for Saha, leaving out Pant. The management prioritized Saha’s skills in receiving, especially with the pink ball, which is expected to behave differently.
