India Defines its Starting Eleven for the Adelaide Test

Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, and Prithvi Shaw will represent India in the next Adelaide Test. Umesh Yadav completes the trio of fast bowlers. Before this important encounter, the Indian team faced crucial decisions: maintaining confidence in Shaw, the inclusion of a spinner, and the choice of wicketkeeper. Finally, the starting eleven for the test to be played in Adelaide was defined. Shaw, despite the pressure, was chosen as the opener. Shubman Gill performed better in the two practice matches, impressing prominent figures. However, Shaw, who had already demonstrated his ability in New Zealand, kept his place.

Similarly, Ashwin, the starting spinner, will maintain his position, especially in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja due to injury. The last time India chose not to include Ashwin in an opening match of the series was on the 2014-15 Australia tour. Regarding the wicketkeeper, India decided to leave out Pant, who had been preferred over Saha in the tests outside of Asia. The team seems to have opted for Saha, considering his superior skills as a wicketkeeper. Yadav is emerging as India’s third fast bowler, replacing the injured Ishant Sharma. His experience in tests and his good performance in the only practice match he played earned him a place in the team.India’s Starting XI: Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah.
