Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington anticipate an early finish in their highly anticipated rematch on Saturday.
After more than two years since their first encounter, Wood (28-4, 17 KOs) and Warrington (32-4-1, 8 KOs) are preparing for a second meeting. In their initial fight, Wood achieved victory with a knockout in the seventh round.
Both boxers have experienced defeats since then, making this fight a crucial opportunity for both.
In their first encounter, Warrington was leading on the scorecards before Wood connected a five-punch combination that ended the fight, albeit controversially.
Now, at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, with pride on the line, both pugilists agree that the rematch will hardly go the distance.
Absolutely, that’s the only way I see it happening, to be honest with you,” Warrington stated at the press conference on Thursday.
Wood’s trainer, Ben Davison, praised his pupil and his opponent for accepting a high-risk fight that promises strong emotions.Wood, fighting in his hometown of Nottingham, claimed to be prepared to face difficulties again in search of victory.
I’m sure. I don’t think it’s going to be easy, nor do I expect it to be, because I feel better when I go through a bit and get the victory, as you’ve seen in previous fights,” Wood said.

Wood also paid tribute to Carl Froch, former super-middleweight champion and also a Nottingham boxer.
“I was talking to Froch yesterday and I was saying ‘you really inspire me Carl’,” Wood revealed. “I know I’m saying it on camera, but you inspired me when I was a kid, going to that arena, watching you fight and saying ‘I want to do this someday'”.
