Kim Clavel Conquers World Title in Two Divisions

Canadian boxer Kim Clavel (22-2, 3 KOs) made history on Saturday by becoming a two-division world champion, after defeating Sol Cudos (10-1-2, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision and obtaining the IBF strawweight title. Clavel achieved this feat in front of her audience at the Theatre St-Denis in Montreal, with cards of 99-91, 99-91 and 98-92. Her combination of punches and hand speed distinguished her from her opponent, dominating the exchanges throughout the exciting fight. Clavel moves up two positions in the women’s strawweight division, now ranking number 3, while Cudos drops to number 4. In another featured bout, two-time Canadian Olympian Tamm Thibeault (4-0, 3 KOs) knocked out Cristina Mazzotta in the first round, in her first professional fight in her home province. Thibeault, the IBF and WBA number 1 contender, moved up one spot, ranking number 2 in the middleweight rankings, and is emerging as a rising star.

These rankings are updated every Tuesday, based on recent fights, head-to-head matchups, and the quality of opponents. However, until boxers face each other, there is a degree of subjectivity in the rankings. Boxers who have not fought in 18 months and do not have a scheduled fight will be removed from the rankings until they compete again.
