A powerful right hand from Whittaker, culminating an effective combination, sent the German boxer to the canvas midway through the first round. The fight seemed to be heading rapidly to its end.
Whittaker continued his offense with a left hook followed by another right hand that hit squarely, ending the fight before many could even take their seats at the NEC in Birmingham.
