Whittaker Destroys Gavazi in R1: Shocking KO in Debut with Matchroom
Ben Whittaker tuvo un debut victorioso con Matchroom Boxing.
Boxer Ben Whittaker demonstrated his power in his debut with Matchroom Boxing, achieving an impressive knockout in the first round against Benjamin Gavazi on Saturday. Whittaker (10-0-1, 7 KOs) didn’t take long to impose his dominance in the fight. Using his left jab and working both Gavazi’s (19-2, 13 KOs) head and body, the Brit’s speed proved to be a decisive factor. A powerful right hand from Whittaker, culminating an effective combination, sent the German boxer to the canvas midway through the first round. The fight seemed to be heading rapidly to its end. Whittaker continued his offense with a left hook followed by another right hand that hit squarely, ending the fight before many could even take their seats at the NEC in Birmingham. Gavazi, visibly affected, recovered and stood up, apparently in good condition.

Whittaker, accompanied by British artist Dizzee Rascal during his ring entrance, fired up the crowd. The 28-year-old boxer acknowledged the need to back up his flashy entrance and did so with a resounding knockout against an experienced opponent, marking his first fight since April.

He was a tough guy [Gavazi], with 20 fights, only lost one. He came to change his life, but as I said, I showed something special, and I showed why I am different.
