Usyk Challenges Jake Paul: “I’ll Wait for You in the Cage”
The undisputed heavyweight world champion, Oleksandr Usyk, has issued a direct warning to Jake Paul, stating that he will be “waiting in the cage” if the YouTuber-turned-boxer dares to face him once the Ukrainian retires from boxing. Paul, who defeated former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson on points in an eight-round bout late last year and then defeated Julio César Chávez Jr. in June, is scheduled to face current WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis in an exhibition bout in November, which will be broadcast on Netflix. The 28-year-old influencer recently shared his ambitious future plans on social media, which include becoming a world boxing champion and defeating Usyk, as well as winning an Oscar, “fighting on the moon,” and starting a presidential campaign. After Usyk defeated Great Britain’s Daniel Dubois for the second time at Wembley in July, he met Paul in the ring.
Usyk, who continues to recover from a back problem, is expected to fight Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley of Great Britain in his next title defense. After his response to Paul, the Ukrainian published a video of his training to highlight his dedication to boxing.Good plan, Jake Paul, but I’m not here for fifth place, only for first. Soon, I’ll close the book on boxing, and after that, I’ll be waiting for you in the cage. Let’s see if you have the balls or just hunger for publicity.
Oleksandr Usyk
I have no motivation. I have discipline. That’s why I’m a champion. I believe it with all my heart. This carries me through the ring, through life, through every challenge. That’s why I stand. Take this with you.
