Tyson and Mayweather Jr. to Face Off in an Epic Exhibition
The iconic boxers Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have agreed to star in an exhibition fight next spring. The event will be organized by CSI Sports/Fight Sports, although crucial details such as the location, date, and broadcast platform are still unknown.Mayweather, 48, retired after knocking out MMA superstar Conor McGregor in 2017. Since then, he has participated in eight exhibition fights, the most recent against John Gotti III in August 2024. Although his fight with Logan Paul was the biggest so far, facing Tyson (59-7, 44 KOs), former heavyweight champion, will surely surpass his previous commitments.“I’ve been at this for 30 years, and there hasn’t been a single fighter who can tarnish my legacy,” Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) declared in a press release. “You know that if I do something, it will be big and legendary. I am the best in the boxing business. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”

Tyson, 59 years old, last competed in a professional boxing match against Jake Paul in November 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It was the first time the former heavyweight champion had competed in almost two decades. The event was a resounding success, with 65 million simultaneous viewers on Netflix, becoming the most-watched streamed sporting event in history. Tyson lost by unanimous decision to Paul and was far from his devastating form of yesteryear.
In his fight against Paul, Tyson weighed 228.4 pounds; Mayweather registered 160.8 pounds against Gotti.“When CSI approached me to get in the ring with Floyd Mayweather, I thought, ‘No way this happens,’ but Floyd said yes,” Tyson commented. “This fight is something that neither the world nor I thought would happen or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable, and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets. I still can’t believe Floyd actually wants to do this. It will be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it will happen!”.
