On a starry night in Times Square, Teofimo Lopez showed why he is considered one of the most outstanding boxers of the moment, surpassing Arnold Barboza Jr. in a display of skill and strategy.
Total Domain in the Ring
López, current world champion in two divisions, displayed his talent against a Barboza Jr. who arrived undefeated. The fight, which culminated in a unanimous decision in favor of López, reflected the superiority of the champion, who controlled the fight from the beginning.
The judges scored the fight 116-112, 116-112, and 118-110, evidencing López’s clear victory. The boxer, originally from Las Vegas, was superior in each round, evading his opponent’s attacks and landing precise punches.
This victory comes after a unanimous decision over Steve Claggett. López cleared up doubts about his potential, delivering a dominant performance against an opponent who arrived with an impeccable record.
Barboza, after a split-decision victory over Jack Catterall in February, faced López hoping to prove his worth. However, “The Takeover” proved to be a step ahead.

López’s agility and precision were evident from the start. He dodged blows and landed effective counterattacks, while Barboza unsuccessfully tried to close the distance.
As the rounds progressed, López found his rhythm, combining his technique with a touch of showmanship, while Barboza struggled to find a way to respond.
With a precise jab, a powerful right hand, and sharp reflexes, Lopez outboxed his opponent. For the final rounds, Barboza needed a knockout, but the lack of power from the Californian boxer made that outcome improbable.
López outboxed Barboza, connecting 127 of 574 punches, while Barboza only landed 71 of 426.
In Search of New Challenges
Following this victory, López is aiming for bigger challenges and has already issued a challenge to the unified welterweight champion, Jaron “Boots” Ennis.
You know me, I go after the difficult challenges. I want to see Boots. I am Dora the Explorer and I am looking for Boots.
