Claressa Shields Will Defend Her Titles Against Lani Daniels in Detroit

The undisputed women’s boxing heavyweight champion, Claressa Shields, is preparing to defend her titles against Lani Daniels on July 26th at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Shields, 30, announced the expected fight through her social media.

Shields comes into this bout with an impeccable record of 16-0, after defeating Danielle Perkins by unanimous decision three months ago in Flint, Michigan.

Her opponent, 36-year-old Lani Daniels, originally from New Zealand, currently holds the IBF light heavyweight title. Daniels has a seven-fight winning streak and a record of 11-2-2, including one knockout.

The city of Detroit, with a rich boxing history that includes legends like Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Thomas Hearns, will be the setting for this exciting match.

The Little Caesars Arena, which opened in 2017, has already witnessed Shields’ talent in the past. The boxer headlined a card almost two years ago and also delivered a standout performance last summer, when she knocked out WBC heavyweight champion Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse in front of a crowd of approximately 12,000 fans.

Women’s boxing has experienced exponential growth since Claressa Shields headlined the first female main event on a nationally televised card.
