Amanda Serrano vs. Erika Cruz: Rematch in Puerto Rico

The renowned boxer Amanda Serrano is preparing to step into the ring once more, this time to defend her WBO and WBA world featherweight titles. The expected match against Erika Cruz will take place on January 3, 2026, at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico, promising a night full of excitement for the fans. This fight represents a rematch of the thrilling 2023 encounter, where Serrano emerged victorious by unanimous decision. On this occasion, the fight will be governed by the same rules as men’s fights, with ten rounds of three minutes each.

Every time I step into the ring, I fight for all women, for equality, and for Puerto Rico. Fighting with three-minute rounds in a unified world title defense in front of my people will be one of the proudest moments of my career. When I got injured last March, I promised I would fight again in Puerto Rico, and now the moment has finally arrived.

Amanda Serrano
Serrano, with a record of 47-4-1 (31 KOs), returns to the ring after her recent defeat against Katie Taylor in July. Despite this setback, the rivalry between both boxers has been fundamental to the current rise of women’s boxing. Cruz, for her part, will seek revenge and prove her worth. The Mexican boxer has maintained a solid performance since her previous encounter with Serrano, with a record of 3-0-1.

I am very happy and excited for this great opportunity to face the great Puerto Rican champion, Amanda Serrano, once again. I thank my promoter, Universal Promotions, and MVP for making this rematch a reality. This is the most exciting rivalry in world boxing. Mexico against Puerto Rico means a guaranteed war. If our first fight was a colossal battle, you can’t miss what will happen on January 3rd. Long live Mexico!

Erika Cruz
Recently, Serrano signed a lifetime deal with Most Valuable Promotions, where she will finish her career as a boxer and then take on the role of president of MVP’s women’s boxing initiatives. The January 3rd event promises to be a milestone in the history of women’s boxing, celebrating the pride and legacy of both Puerto Rico and women’s boxing.
