Rahaman Ali, brother of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, dies

The boxing world mourns the loss of Rahaman Ali, younger brother of the iconic Muhammad Ali, who passed away at the age of 82. The Muhammad Ali Center was in charge of announcing the sad news, reporting that Rahaman died on Friday in Louisville, Kentucky. The cause of death was not revealed. Rahaman, following in the footsteps of his famous brother, also became a professional boxer. His career spanned from 1964 to 1972, achieving a record of 14 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw. After his retirement, Rahaman remained close to Muhammad, even training with him.

In 2014, Rahaman co-wrote a book with boxing writer H. Ron Brashear entitled “That’s Muhammad Ali’s Brother! My Life on the Billboard.” Later, in 2019, he published his second book, “My Brother, Muhammad Ali: The Definitive Biography.”

You cannot tell the story of Muhammad without mentioning Rahaman. He was one of the most consistent sources of support for Muhammad during his career and their relationship was a true example of what it means to be ‘my brother’s keeper’.
