A proposal has been made for Lauren Price to face American Mikaela Mayer in an anticipated fight for the undisputed women’s welterweight title next year, according to promoter Ben Shalom.
The clash between Price (9-0, 2 KOs), IBF, WBA and WBC champion, and Mayer (22-2, 5 KOs), holder of the WBO title, was scheduled for the beginning of this year, but ultimately did not materialize.
Mayer moved up to super welterweight and conquered the WBC, WBO, and WBA belts after her victory over Mary Spencer in October.
However, the American boxer has expressed her desire to face Price at 147 pounds for all the titles, and the fight is expected to materialize.
Price is targeting a fight in Cardiff, Wales, in February, in what will be his first bout in almost a year, before focusing on Mayer.
They offered us the fight in July for [United States], but the economic amount was not considered appropriate by Lauren’s management for that fight, and I tend to agree with her.

“We’ve made an offer for Mayer to come and fight here, at the Royal Albert Hall. So far, we haven’t received an accepted offer, but that’s been a fight we’ve been trying to make and we’re trying to do,” he added.
Mayer, 35, is a three-division world champion, having also won titles in super featherweight. She turned professional in 2017 after representing the United States at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Price, 31 years old, has been a professional for three years after a brilliant amateur career.
He won gold medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2019 world championships.
