Joseph Parker in Negotiations to Face Fabio Wardley in London
Sources close to the situation have revealed that boxer Joseph Parker is in talks to face British heavyweight Fabio Wardley on October 25 in London. Parker, who holds a record of 36-3 with 25 knockouts, is the current holder of the WBO interim title. He was expected to be the next opponent of undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk. The WBO had ordered Usyk to begin negotiations with Parker, giving him a 30-day deadline to agree to a fight after his victory over Daniel Dubois last month. However, due to an injury, Usyk was granted an extension, with a new deadline at the end of this month.
Joseph Parker hasn’t fought since February.
Parker is looking to stay active and is in advanced talks to face Wardley in a high-caliber heavyweight fight at the O2 Arena in London. Parker’s last fight was in February, where he achieved a knockout over Martin Bakole. Wardley, with an undefeated record of 19-0-1 and 18 knockouts, is the WBA interim champion and has great support in the UK. The 30-year-old boxer is coming off an impressive knockout victory over Australian Justis Huni in June. Although Parker is from New Zealand, he also has a considerable following in the UK, where he has been training with Tyson Fury and coach Andy Lee.
