Boxer Joseph Parker is in talks to face British heavyweight Fabio Wardley on October 25 in London, according to sources close to the pugilist.
Parker, holder of the WBO interim title, was on the list to challenge undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.
The WBO ordered Usyk to start negotiations with Parker and gave him 30 days to agree to a fight after his victory over Daniel Dubois last month. Parker hasn’t fought since his knockout victory over Martin Bakole in February.
Wardley, interim WBA champion, has a large following in the UK. The 30-year-old boxer is coming off an impressive knockout victory over Australian Jai Opetaia in June.
Although Parker is from New Zealand, he also has a following in the UK, as he has been training in the northern hemisphere since he began training with Tyson Fury and coach Andy Lee.
