Molly McCann secured a resounding victory in her professional boxing debut, defeating Kate Radomska by technical knockout in the sixth round.
The fight, which took place on Saturday, saw McCann (1-0, 1 KO) demonstrate his superiority from the start, outclassing Radomska (4-8, 2 KOs) in Belfast.
The former MMA champion, who retired from this sport after her defeat against Alexia Thainara in March at UFC London, demonstrated her adaptation to boxing.
In July, the 35-year-old boxer announced her transition to professional boxing, signing a ten-fight deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom.
The fight was full of action from the second round, where Radomska apparently tried to kick McCann, although the fight continued with the clear domination of the British boxer.
Radomska fell to the canvas in the fifth round after a powerful right hand from McCann, who controlled the fight at all times.
In the sixth round, after receiving more punishment, Radomska’s corner decided to throw in the towel, giving the victory to McCann.
It’s been a brilliant week, I’ve enjoyed myself. There were valuable learning lessons and I relaxed a bit. I hadn’t won in 18 months, so there was a bit of pressure. It was nice and I started to relax in each round. I hurt her several times and I’m getting used to being a professional.
