An offer has been made for Lauren Price to face American Mikaela Mayer in an anticipated fight for the undisputed women’s welterweight title next year. This was confirmed by promoter Ben Shalom.
The fight between Price, IBF, WBA, and WBC champion (9-0, 2 KOs), and Mayer, holder of the WBO title (22-2, 5 KOs), was expected to take place earlier this year, but ultimately did not materialize.
Mayer moved up to super welterweight and won the WBC, WBO, and WBA belts after her victory over Mary Spencer in October.
However, the American boxer has expressed her desire to face Price at 147 pounds for all the belts, and the fight is expected to take place.
Price aims to fight in Cardiff, Wales, in February, in what will be his first fight in almost a year, before moving on to Mayer.
We were offered the fight in July for the United States, but the money wasn’t something that Lauren’s management considered appropriate for that fight, and I tend to agree with her.

Shalom added: “We have made an offer for Mayer to come and fight here at the Royal Albert Hall”.
“So far, we have not received an accepted offer, but that has been a fight we have been trying to make and we are trying to do.”
Mayer, 35, is a three-division world champion, having also won titles at junior lightweight. She turned professional in 2017 after representing the United States at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Price, 31, has been a professional for three years after a brilliant amateur career.
He won gold medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2019 world championships.
