Mayer vs Price: Offer for Unified Women's Boxing Fight in 2024
A proposal has been made for Lauren Price to face American Mikaela Mayer in an anticipated fight for the undisputed women’s welterweight title next year. Promoter Ben Shalom revealed the details of this possible contest. The clash between Price, IBF, WBA and WBC champion (9-0, 2 KOs), and Mayer, holder of the WBO title (22-2, 5 KOs), was anticipated for this year, but ultimately did not materialize. Mayer moved up to super welterweight and conquered the WBC, WBO, and WBA belts after her victory over Mary Spencer in October. However, the American boxer has expressed her desire to face Price at 147 pounds for all the belts, and the fight is expected to materialize. Price aims to fight in Cardiff, Wales, in February, which would mark his return to the ring after almost a year, before facing Mayer.

They offered us the fight in July for [United States], but the money wasn’t something that Lauren’s management considered appropriate for that fight, and I tend to agree with her.

“We have proposed to Mayer that he come to fight here, at the Royal Albert Hall,” added Shalom. “So far, we have not received an accepted offer, but that has been a fight that we have been trying to finalize and that we are trying to do.” Mayer, 35 years old, is a three-division world champion, having won titles in the super lightweight division. She turned professional in 2017 after representing the United States at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Price, 31, has been a professional for three years after a brilliant amateur career. He won gold medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2019 world championships.
