Jorge Masvidal Wins Million-Dollar Lawsuit Against Fanmio
UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant legal victory. A Florida judge awarded him a default judgment of over $5 million in his lawsuit against the online platform Fanmio. The company Fanmio was the promoter of the boxing match between Masvidal and Nate Diaz in 2024. Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, after an arbitrator awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest. Masvidal sued Fanmio in January, alleging that his agreement for the fight with Diaz included a $6 million purse, plus an additional $1 million if he won the fight. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment. However, Fanmio still faces lawsuits from other fighters. Nate Diaz filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks after Masvidal’s case, claiming more than $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, plus attorney’s fees. This case is still awaiting final approval. In March, Fanmio filed a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia for a canceled exhibition match with Rukiya Anpo, which was to take place on December 31, 2024. Garcia chose to fight Rolando Romero in May.A referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with the final approval, this matter has been resolved.
