Teofimo López vs. Shakur Stevenson: Clash of Titans in New York

A high-caliber showdown is looming in the boxing world. Teofimo López and Shakur Stevenson will face each other in a match agreed at 140 pounds next January 31st in New York, according to Turki Alalshikh. López, with a record of 21-1 and 13 knockouts, will put his WBO and The Ring welterweight titles on the line. For his part, Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) will make his debut in the super lightweight category. This highly anticipated duel, which promises strong emotions, will be the main fight of “The Ring 6” and will be broadcast on DAZN. The exact venue of the event is still unknown.

This fight between two great talents will be an exciting start to our plans for 2026, as we seek to create another great year of boxing events around the world,” declared Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority and owner of Ring Magazine.

Stevenson, a native of Newark, is a three-division world champion who will seek to add a title in a fourth weight category. In his last fight, in July, he successfully defended the WBC lightweight title against William Zepeda.

“I have never shied away from a challenge and have always sought the most important fights in the sport because I know I am one of the best boxers in the world,” stated Stevenson, 28. “Teofimo López will learn that firsthand on January 31st when I take his belt and show him that there are levels to this game.”

López, from Brooklyn, will seek to defend his titles for the fourth time since he won them after defeating Josh Taylor in 2023. In May, he defeated Arnold Barboza Jr. in Times Square, New York. For López, this fight also represents a territorial battle between New York and New Jersey.

“Duck, Duck, Goose! Are you ready for New York City?”, said Lopez. “Brick City in the concrete jungle, so get ready for the fight! The Takeover is here to stay, not to play. Make Boxing Great Again is my forte. Shakur will fall in the ninth round.”
