Anthony Joshua Eyes Ring Return in 2025

Boxer Anthony Joshua is in talks with potential opponents, but time is running out to finalize a fight in 2025. Joshua hasn’t fought in almost 14 months, since he was defeated by Daniel Dubois last September. This setback stalled his momentum under the tutelage of coach Ben Davison. However, it has been revealed that a warm-up fight is in the works and could occur before the end of the year.

We are already talking to some opponents about a preparation fight.

Promoter Hearn
Promoter Hearn explained that the goal is for Joshua to regain his fighting rhythm, without the pressure of a massive event. Hearn set a deadline: “We will make a decision this week about Anthony’s next fight.” Speculation has arisen about a fight against Jake Paul, who previously stated that Joshua would represent a greater challenge than Terence Crawford. Although Hearn is open to considering a fight against Paul, there is no formal offer on the table.

If we had a warm-up fight, against Jake Paul would be nice.

Promoter Hearn
Hearn insisted that, if Joshua fights in 2025, it will not be against a high-profile opponent, unless it’s Jake Paul. Joshua’s defeat to Dubois interrupted a streak of four consecutive victories after two losses to Oleksandr Usyk. With Tyson Fury, an old rival, waiting to return to boxing in 2026, an expected fight between Joshua and Fury remains a possibility.
