Anthony Joshua Could Return to the Ring in February
It is likely that Anthony Joshua will not compete in 2025, with a return in February being the most feasible option, according to his promoter, Eddie Hearn. Previously, Hearn had mentioned the possibility of Joshua, who hasn’t fought since his defeat to Daniel Dubois last September, returning this year. However, with time passing and the calendar filling up, it’s likely that AJ will fight again in early 2026, possibly at a major event in Africa.Hearn explained that the main focus is for Joshua to be in full preparation. Although he doesn’t completely rule out a fight in December, time is a crucial factor. If he returns in 2026, it would be the first time in his career that Joshua does not compete in a calendar year. Hearn suggested that, ideally, Joshua could participate as a co-main event in another card, although he acknowledged that this could be complicated given his superstar status. At this moment, the most likely scenario is a return in February.

Hearn also commented on the pressure Joshua is facing. He will fight in February, no matter what, whether it’s a second fight or his first fight back.

Hearn added that Alalshikh is the only person who can make that fight happen, given the amount of money involved and the way the deal must be structured. Once the agreement with Joshua is closed, only the agreement with Fury will remain to be finalized. Our agreement [with Alalshikh] that is not done, is quite close. We will reach an agreement, but that is totally irrelevant if Fury is not in.
